Geboren in Wien, Österreich (1975), schon als Kind vom „Hollywood-Jazz“ der 30er, 40er und 50er beeinflusst, hat Barbara erst relativ spät zum Jazz gefunden. Im Alter von sieben Jahren nahm sie für die nächsten sieben Jahre Klavierunterricht. Ihr Jazzpiano-Studium begann sie nach ihrer Ausbildung zur Buchhändlerin mit 23 Jahren bei Paul Urbanek am Gustav Mahler Konservatorium (2004 diplomiert).
Ihre Vorbilder sind jedoch mehr Big Band Leader als Pianisten, angefangen bei Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Oliver Nelson über Thad Jones / Mel Lewis, Gil Evans und bis hin zu Maria Schneider.
2009 hat sie ihre Big Band gegründet.
Born in Vienna, Austria (1975), though she was already influenced by the „Hollywood-Jazz“ of the Thirties, Forties and Fifties as a child, it took her a long time to realize her true love for Jazz. At the age of seven she had started learning playing the piano at a local music school for the next seven years. After a short career as a bookseller she finally enrolled as a jazzpiano student of Paul Urbanek at the age of 23 and graduated 2004.
Though, her idols are not so much pianists, but rather big band leader such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Oliver Nelson, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Gil Evans or Maria Schneider.
In 2009 she founded her own Big Band.
